My mother is Nancy Christine Maierfeldt, listed on one of the pages of your website. By chance do you have an English translation of the website? If not, could you at least provide me information as to how we are related (assuming that we are). Given that there are only 4 people living with Mairfeldt in their name (as far as we know) I would be interested in learning anything about the my ancestery.
Thanks

Dear Bill Parks,
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
Although my first page gives the impression I have a English version of my website, I still haven’t found time to make a start. The site is based on two books I wrote about the history of my family. The first one deals with the Swedish noble family Meijerfeldt, the second one with the Dutch family Von Meijenfeldt. Before writing a third book, I started developing my website, with a lot of information about other families and individuals with a similar name.
In that context I have gathered all the names I could find in the US in the chapters where you found the name of your mother. Most of the Meyerfeld’s in the US are from Jewish origin (from the first name me-ir) living in Hessia (Germany). The spelling of the name is not always the same (e.g. Meyerfeld or Mayerfeld), even after the government took over the registers from the churches. Therefore it could well be that the family name “Maierfeldt” was written like “Meyerfeldt” or other variations earlier. In my case the “r” was changed in a “n”.
The four Maierfeldt’s that are listed on my site are the only individual members I could find. I don’t know how they are interlinked and where and when they came from Europe. In Europe I did not find families with a spelling like this. I will do some extra research these free days and come back to you.
Kind regards,
Hugo G. von Meijenfeldt

Thank you, and a Merry Christmas. Later this week, I will send you all I know about the Maierfeldts (which unfortunately isn’t much).
Also, what is your relationship to Baron von Munchausen (I hope I spelled that right)? Going through your website, that name did pop out at me. It caught my attention because my grandfather (William C Maierfeldt) named his boat the “Baron M.” after him. Also, he owned a bar called “The Baron”, again after Baron M.
Thanks
Bill

Dear Bill,
A Marry Christmas to you too. I love the first silent hour in my house, when my wife and 3 children are still dreaming. It gives me the opportunity to travel around the world, virtually.
In my archive I found a little more information about the Maierfeldts, but it is coming all from American internet, so nothing new for you. I am confident that you can interlink the following Maierfeldts.
Maierfeldt, * 1835 Germany, ∞ Mary, * 1849 Germany, arriving in Orange Park (Clay FL) late seventies, son:
Frederick, * 1867, ∞ 08-10-1898 Carroll (Arkansas) Christine Braülenberger, * 1886.
Helen, * 02-12-1889, ? 06-1974, Jacksonville (Duval FL).
William (Bill) Carl sr., * Richmond (Virginia) 12-08-1898, + 09-02-1989, lives 1918 Jacksonville (Duval FL), writer of “Early Days in Orange Port”, ∞ Gladys Hazeltine Walker, * 01-01-1898, ? 07-10-1957, daughter of William Edward Walker (1860-1907) en Lula Thorpe (1879-1922).
Bess, * 29-11-1909, + 11-04-1995, Jacksonville (Duval FL).

Nancy Christine.
If you know the place in Germany where the family is coming from, I can perhaps be of help. If it is the northern part of Germany, our families could come close after all.
The page about baron Von Muenchhausen is more a kind of a joke. Because our family name is long and inviting for spelling mistakes, relatives of mine sometimes shorten their name with “Von M”. In this article I warn them that everyone will think of Von Muenchhausen. Just for fun I bought the books with his unbelievable stories and give his short biography in the article. In fact he lived not too far away from and at the same time as the Swedish counts Von Meijerfeldt. Perhaps you grandfather had similar thoughts.
Best regards,
Hugo

Hugo –
I apologize, but my life went totally sideways right after the holidays. Here is what I know. Unfortunately it doesn’t add much to what you already know, but clears up the relationships.
There are some question marks. For one, my grandfather (William Carl Sr) had a brother, but for the life in me, I can’t remember his name. I know he was younger than my grandfather, never married, and died before I was born.
The only people currently living with the Maierfeldt name are, my mother (Nancy Maierfeldt Parks), my son (Connor Maierfeldt Parks), and my uncle (William Carl Maierfeldt Jr). I don’t know if my uncle’s ex wife is still going by Maierfeldt or went back to her maiden name.
I had intended on doing some more digging, but haven’t found the time. As I do dig up more info, I will pass it along to you.
Bill

Dear Bill,
Thank you very much for such a quick reply. If there is no privacy problem, I would like to use your information on my website. I promise to you as well, that if I find any link in Germany (very close to my country) I will inform you.
Kind regards,
Hugo

Feel free to use it.

Dear Bill,
While integrating your information into my data I come to the conclusion that the third child of Frederick was Clare Maierfeldt, born in 1900. With regard to William or Wilhelm, born 1835, we need the name of the place or county in Germany. I am not in the possession of the book Bill sr. wrote about Orange Port, but in an interview he makes a reference to his grandfather from Germany.
Kind regards,
Hugo
