Last August I visited Klaus-Jürgen Bergemann in Nehringen. I visited him in 1988 (DDR-times), 1992 (Opening St. Andreas Kirche by Angela Merkel), and several times thereafter. Because I have overwhelming circumstantial evidence that the Swedish fieldmarshall Johan August, graf von Meijerfeldt (1725-1800) is the natural father of my great-great-grandfather, Klaus always calls me ‘der Junge Graf’ A DNA-sample during the future opening of the Familien Gruft could give hard evidence, or perhaps I will find him in a list of illegitimate children somewhere one day.
My website is in Dutch, but with a little bit of Plattdeutch background easy to read, I hope. Part one deals with the history of the family in Livland, Schweden and Pommern, part 2 the follow-up in the Netherlands. Because the Meijerfeldt family played an important role in the government, university, church and estates of Swedish-Pomerania, I would like to do some broader research. Klaus advised me to approach Mrs. Beatrix Dräger-Kneißl, whose relevant article will be published soon.
Klaus also advised me to approach you. Indeed I see many interesting publications. Do you have any suggestions how to continue my broader research?

Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen,
gestern erreichte mich aus Nehringen die beigefügte Traueranzeige.
Herr von Pachelbel wird uns mit seiner Aufgeschlossenheit für historische Themen, weit über die Schwedenzeit in Pommern hinaus, und seiner Zugewandtheit gegenüber dem wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs fehlen. Mir wird immer ein Interview in Erinnerung bleiben, das vor gut zwei Jahrzehnten von Radio Schweden mit ihm und Klaus Bergemann in der Nehringer Andreaskirche geführt worden war. Daraus konnte man mehr über die Brüche und Kontinuitäten des 20. Jahrhunderts lernen als aus so manchem Lehrbuch.

Excuse me for continuing in English. A conversation in German with Klaus Bergemann and Pastor Kneiβl last August was easy enough, but my writing skills (even in Plattdeutsch) are below level.
Thank you very much for your compliments regarding my website concerning the history of my family. I enjoy the combination of physical visits to libraries, archives and estates in the Baltics, Sweden, Pomerania and the Netherlands on the one side and researching the enormous growing pile of digitalized documents and books behind my desk at home on the other. Their interesting lives give me the opportunity to write a part of Europe’s history.
Indeed did Ms. Beatrix Dräger-Kneiβl send me a full copy of KulturERBE in Mecklenburg und Vorpommern, including her impressive opening article “Das Gutsdorf Nehringen. Ein bedeutendes schwedisches Erbe in Vorpommern und seine jüngere Geschichte”. I read a lot of new interesting facts. She invited me to give the article a critical reading. It will take me a lot of effort to find additions or corrections.
The two articles you included with regard to Schanzen and Postierungslinien were interesting as well. Johann August von Meyerfeldt d.ä. was appointed captain by the Dutch-English king Willem III van Oranje and took part in the siege of Namur 1695. It was in fact a Vauban – Coehoorn struggle. The same Johan August crossed the Oder river 2 September 1706 with his thinned out regiment of 650 recruited dragoons to occupy the capital Dresden. I thought the Swedes invaded Saxony without any struggle, but the second article made me aware of the fact that Steinau built a Postierungslinie already in 1704.
One of the reasons for my trip last August was that my contact persons are getting very old. The wife of Klaus died recently, he himself is 82 years old, and the members of the noble families in Swedish Skåne are of the same generation. Thank you for sending me the Traueranzeige. I met Alexander and his wife a few times. One of the issues we spoke about was the age of the ‘new’ Gutshaus in Nehringen. That seemed to be important for the price he had to pay to the Treuhand. Beatrix deals with this issue in her article as well. We all came to the conclusion that the year 1780 would be the best guess.
Finally I would like to thank you very much for the name and details of the director of the Stadtarchiv, Dr. Dirk Schleinert. I have visited the archive itself in the past, as well as the Ariadne archive portal. I will try to pose my questions to him as concrete as possible.
