Dear Madam/Sir,

Excuse me for writing in English. You could write back to me in Swedish, if that helps.

In your historic collection you have a crayon drawing of the Swedish count Johan August von Meijerfeldt, nr. HK19651016:595. He is an ancestor of me in a direct line.

I am researching the history of my family. The results are publish on www.meijenfeldt.nl (in Dutch, like Swedish and English a germanic language). I have published the drawing of your collection on my website. Am I right that the artist is unknown? The drawing is a copy of a colour painting that I see on internet, without any information.

If you allow I have one correction on the person you refer to in the drawing. This Johan August von Meijerfeldt is according to face, uniform and text the son of the one you are describing. Meijerfeldt junior lived 1725-1800. He was commander-in-chief in and field-marshall after the Swedish-Russian War 1888-1890, fought in your country. The drawing must date from the 1790-ties, not the 1740-ties. I could give you more details about this Meijerfeldt.

Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Hugo von Meijenfeldt

Dear Hugo von Meijenfeldt,

Thank you for contacting us. English works well, better actually than Swedish.

You have it correct that the artist of the drawing is unknown to us. We would be pleased to receive additional information on the person portrayed in the picture. We will add the information to our database and make corrections as well. It will, however, have to wait a little bit, because our database is at the moment under renovation and changes cannot be made during that work. Please do send the information when it is most convenient for you.

Best regards,
Saija Kainulainen

Dear Saija,

Thank you very much for your very quick response in English.

With regard to the artist my finding is that the copper stich is a copy of the painting of Per I. Krafft sr, Nationalmuseum Stockholm, nr. NMGrh 4271
My corrections to the information under the picture are as follows:
Subject: Swedish Fieldmarshall and ‘En av Rikets Herrar’, Count Johan August Meijerfeldt jr (1725-1800)
Topic time: 1790s
There is no hurry to correct this. After your renewal of the datasystem I will check if there is more information to send to you, for instance about his military career, his family or his estates.
Best regards,
Hugo
