Bilthoven, 3 januari 2009

Dear Malin & Sven Öberg,

Two years ago I sent an e-mail to you. Until now I didn’t receive an answer. There might have been a technical reason. Therefore I take the liberty once again to bring this e-mail to your attention. Thank you in advance for any trouble taken.

Hugo G. von Meijenfeldt

Mail of 06-12-2006:

Through this e-mail I take the liberty of approaching you in the English language. There is no problem to answer me in Swedish.

I am Hugo von Meijenfeldt from Bilthoven in the Netherlands. My ancestors in a straight line (be it with one natural birth in 1760) are the Swedish counts Meijerfeldt. Over the last 25 years I have researched the history of my family, wrote two books about it and published a Dutch website www.meijenfeldt.nl. I travelled to Sweden several times to study documents in Stockholm (Kungliga Biblioteket, Riksarkivet) and visit estates like Sövdeborg and Näsby slott. In my books and on my website I collect amoung other things pictures of my ancestors.

The Svenska Porträttarkivet sent me black-and-white photographs of paintings of a lot of members of the Meijerfeldt family, with the remark that the originals are in privately owned castles. One painting is of countess Anna Catharina Horn-Meijerfeldt (1722-1791), painted by O. Arenius, 84 x 66 cm, and presently in Vibyholm.

I hope I am right to turn to you to find this painting. If yes, I would be most obliged if you could advise me how to obtain a colour photograph, to publish it on my website. One of the possibilities is that I would visit your castle next summer.

Looking forward to your reply,

Yours sincerely,
Hugo von Meijenfeldt
