One year ago there was a request to reach out to you in case an ancestor took part in the Battle of Narva. Because I found this request only today, My e-mail\u00a0is probably too late for your exposition.<\/span><\/div>\n

My name is Hugo von Meijenfeldt.\u00a0I am living in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. I am the son in the 7th degree of\u00a0the Swedish count Johan August von Meijerfeldt (1664-1749),\u00a0who stood very close to king Carl XII.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Having served\u00a0in the Netherlands\u00a0against the French, my ancestor\u00a0returned to his hometown Riga in Livland after the Peace of Rijswijk (1697). On 2 June\u00a01700 he was “\u00f6verstel\u00f6jtnant f\u00f6r en skvadron v\u00e4rvade ryttare”. Nordberg (part I, page 91) writes that general Vellingk sent him 20 July\u00a0on a mission, although he uses the first name of his older brother major Carl Fredrik Meijerfeldt (1661-1709).<\/span><\/div>\n

Under Vellingk Johan August\u00a0went to Wesenberg\u00a0in Estland, to join king Carl XII in his march to\u00a0Narva on 16 November.\u00a0I have no source, but I assume that he fought with his 100\u00a0cavalier\u00a0squadron on the left wing under Vellingk. His brother major Carl Fredrik stayed in the governors regiment in Riga.\u00a0Where the\u00a0third brother Wolmar Johan Meijerfeldt (1667-1739) was at that time is not clear to me.<\/span><\/div>\n
