On 27 September I sent you the order form below. That is only 11 days ago, therefore I am not rushing you to answer.

I only have the question if the missing library card number would cause any difficulty. I am not a student or professor at your University, but a Dutch researcher into the history of the Meijerfeldt family.

If that is no problem I hope you are able to give me an estimation of the number of pages to be scanned and the price involved.

Mystery solved! You’d filled out the form for ordering material to our Reading room, so the material was waiting for you there. But now I have it in front of me. In X 240 there is a cover marked “J. A. Meyerfeldt”. I see that you have written 26 documents, and the folder contains quite a lot of documents, far more than 26. Are there any documents that you are specifically interested in?

On the one hand I am happy that there are so many documents in the “J.A. Meyerfeldt” file, on the other I agree with you to focus .

The oldest documents are the most importanty to me:
– Underthänigst Memoria (Meritförteckning, egenhänd.)
– Fullmakt vom Kornett 1686
– 2. löjnant 1689
– v.d. Pahlens afsked ock pass för honom 1693
– Kong. Wilhelm af Holland kapten fullmakt för honom 1693
– Kong. Wilhelm af Holland majors fullmakt 1698
– Kapitulation för honom und. Otto Wellingk 1700
– Öfverstelöjtnants fullmakt för honom und. Otto Wellingk 1700
– Värfvingspatent und. Otto Wellingk 1700

In the Riksregistraturet of the Riksarkivet I found the official documents of his further promotions.

Out of the rest I am interested in three travel documents:
– Respass för honom för resan till och från Turkiet 1709-1711
– Utgifter under hans resa till Bender 1710-1711
– Kungl. pass för honom 1711

Some of the documents (meritförteckning, and Kungl. pass 1711) are a bit torn, the paper is curled, and small pieces are missing. The starting fee for digitization is 100 SEK. Works of 5 pages or more are 5 SEK per page. If the work consists of less than 5 pages the price is 20 SEK per page. Perhaps you’ve already read the information about digitization <https://www.ub.uu.se/use-the-library/digitization/>, but I put the link there if you’d like to have a look.

– Respass för honom för resan till och från Turkiet 1709-1711.  3 pages. = 60 SEK. This is just one document that you are looking for? I see that there is a respass from 1709.
– Utgifter under hans resa till Bender 1710-1711. 157 pages = 785 SEK
– Kungl. pass för honom 1711. 2 pages = 40 SEK
100 SEK in starting fee, and 1205 SEK for the copies = in total 1305 SEK.

Thank you very much for all the effort you take to inform me.

I take the poor quality of the originals as a fact. I would certainly understand if the conservators are not happy to smooth out the paper on the right. It might crumble. I suppose there is not more to see when I would visit your library in the (post-Corona) future?

The one respass of 1709 is correct (from Bender to Stockholm) and the other Kongl. pass was for his way back to bring money for a new war.

Thank you for checking the number of pages of the documents and the calculation of the price. Quite funny that his “Utgifter under hans resa till Bender 1710-1711” is the most expensive one. I will not order that one. The rest adds up to SEK 520. EUR 50 sounds different.

With the hope that your conservators can tighten the few curly papers a bit I would like to order them anyway. If I have to pay upfront I am very pleased to do so.

Right now meritförteckning looks a bit too fragile to be studied in the reading room, so the best thing to do is to give it to the conservators. I’m not really sure if the digitization result will be different from the accutal paper, but my guess is that the conservators will make it more stable so that the digitization will catch as much information as possible from the paper.
Yes, without utgifter under hans resa i Bremen it is 520 SEK. When the material is left with the photographers the delivery time is usually 5-10 working days. Now it will take a bit longer since it has to stop by the conservators first. In the extra remarks of my digitalisation form I also indicated that the conservators will have a look at a few documents.

By the way, two years ago I was looking for “Svecia illustris” of A.A. von Stiernman under X 18. Thanks to your colleague Moa Bergkvist I got hold of a scan of the four pages regarding “Mejerfelt”, that go back to 1480. I am sure your assistance will lead to similar discoveries for my research.
