Dear Margareta Lilliehöök,

Perhaps you may remember our telephone conversation and e-mail exchange in 2007 about two big paintings in Rosendal. You surprised me by sending pictures of two big paintings of my ancestors. I put them on my website www.meijenfeldt.nl.

Since your father was one year older than my mother, and I can see that you and your three younger brothers now own the slott, I assume our parents died more or less in the same year. I also see that the maintenance of Rosendal together with the government did not work out as well as you and your brothers had in mind. That is too pity for such a lovely castle.

My question to you is if you can have better photos taken from the two painting and perhaps other paintings of the Meijerfeldt or related Barnekow and Horn family. Perhaps you could then also give me information about the sizes and the painter of the pictures.

Since I have been appointed as the Consul General for the Kingdom of
the Netherlands in San Francisco, California, I’m afraid I see no opportunity to pay a visit myself.

Thank you in advance for any trouble taken,
Hugo von Meijenfeldt

Dear Hugo von Meijenfeldt,

Thank you for your e-mail below. I do remember our correspondence regarding the painting at Rosendal and that I sent you some photos. There is only one painting of Johan August Meijerfeldt, but maybe I sent you two pictures. I am planning to visit Rosendal towards the end of October. I will then try to take some better photos of the painting,  measure it and also try to find out who the painter is.

Our father died in July last year at the age of 93. It was of course very sad, but he had lived a long and satisfying life.

Congratulations to your appointment as Consul General. I do hope you will enjoy your stay in San Francisco.

Best regards,
Margareta Lilliehöök

Dear Hugo,

As promised I am hereby sending you two new pictures of Meijerfeldt taken on our last visit to Rosendal.  The painting is 152,5 cm x 114 cm, the frame is 5 cm wide. We don’t know who the painter is.

Best regards,
Margareta
